Frequently Asked Questions

How can I donate?

Currently, the most reliable, fastest, and no fees is using Sendwave app. It will require you to download the app and put in your bank information. If you use code S9S5S an additional $10 can be sent to us at your first donation. The following information you will need to complete this is the picture below. However, there is a limit of $3,000 a month and $1,000 a day limit. For larger donations you can use Western Union but please contact us first so we know where the donation is meant to be sent.

The name you will need to add into your contacts is: Mutenyo Winner +256 765 141125 to make the app work.

How will I know the money is going to where I donated it?

As we work on working with other countries and ministries one of the ways we do records is by sending photos of receipts of purchases. If you look in gallery you can see a receipt from the 19 yr old that sent us chickens.

How long have you been running?

We started in 2017 after another huge landslide and no safe place for the children who were left behind a place to go. We only now have begun to get an online presence due to volunteers from other places.

What organizations are you involved with?

Currently, we have no churches or organizations sponsoring us except International Harvest of Jubilee with David Woodrum.

What does a child sponsorship cost and what does it cover?

A child sponsorship costs $15 a month that goes towards the care of a child. The child receives 3 meals a day, basic education with school uniform and medical care. It doesn’t provide for extras like shoes, art supplies, extra clothes, or toys. If you would like to give more to your child or give a little extra it is always a nice surprise for the children.

Can I send my child letters or packages?

Yes, please keep in mind that while English is the official language of Uganda many people do not know how to speak it and many of us adults in the church are attempting to learn because it depends on which schools you go to here. If you go to a poorer school then you don’t always learn English. Here we speak Lumasaba which is a tribal lanaguage of the Bantu . I will do my best to translate.

Due to cost of postage for us to respond by mail we may not be able to respond quickly or at all unless it is through email. Our younger children while they love mail and photos don’t have supplies many times for us to send pictures the children created through email even.

Packages take 2 months to send to us. Depending on the contents and customs there may be additional fees before I can pick them up. Please make sure what you send can go through customs and keep in contact. Another route some children’s sponsors have done is send money in the name of the child for me to pick up items. I will give you the cost and normally the cost is cheaper here when you account shipping and customs. Normally, I do this through messanger on my facebook page (Bishop Woopo Silver).

How can I find out more about my sponsored child?

Sometimes we can give a lot of information on a child and other times we can’t. It really depends on how much information we were given when they came here. Some children are too young to give information on who they are when landslides happen and so we have to depend upon other children from that area or neighbors to the child. Other times we have children who are dumped and we have absolutely no information so we must create a name and medically guess their age.

Can I pick the child I sponsor?

Yes, if you send the gender and age we can match you up with a child that way or allow you to pick out of the children we have that don’t have sponsors.

How long does my sponsorship last and can I cancel it?

There is no obligation on how long you must sponsor a child. You are responsible for sending the donation to us every month. We don’t have anything that can do automatic payments. If you are unable to, for whatever reason, to continue your support your sponsored child please let us know through email so we can make sure they can get re-matched to a sponsor as quickly as possible.

Can we give to multiple projects?

Yes, you can do that just be specific in the amount and where it goes.

Can we adopt a child?

The short answer is yes. The long answer is that due to Ugnadan adoption laws they can be strict. There are some ways to send a child on an educational visa where you promise to keep them there and educate them with an agreement at the end that you help them get a job or that they be sent back to Uganda at the end of the agreement. We have not done this yet but are more than willing to walk with people through this process.

Can we do a mission trip there?

Yes, we welcome those who work with us to see what they are investing in. If you would like to come and do a project or do ministry with the children let us know and we will help you figure out all the details so your group can come.

Is your ministry non-profit?

Not at this time.

Can a church or organization sponsor a child or project?

Yes!

Can we sponsor more than one child or a sibling group?

Yes!
